As we quickly move through Term 4, and seniors focus on their last days of classes, I am continuing these weekly updates while Auckland remains in lockdown restrictions and our Auckland based team are unable to connect in person with your students.

Changes to Bachelor of Engineering Entrance Requirements for 2022 entrance

As a consequence of COVID disruptions in 2021, the Faculty of Engineering wishes to signal an adjustment to its previously advised admission requirements for 2022 entrance.

Please see the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) domestic entry requirements for details on the changes and how they apply to NCEA, IB and Cambridge students.

 Young Scholars Programme

Applications are now open for our Young Scholars Programme for 2022.

Please see the information on our website for further details of courses including information on which courses are taught in person in Auckland and which are offered as distance learning. For any queries, please contact the course administrator.

Applications will close on the 8 December 2021.

MAX Maths 199

MAX (Maths 199), a University of Auckland class designed for mathematically strong year-13 students.  MAX is part of the Young Scholars Programme, allowing students to take a course at the University of Auckland while they’re still enrolled in high school.

Toia ki Waipapa

As part of the University of Auckland’s summer offerings, Tōia ki Waipapa is an opportunity for current year 13 tauira to get a head start at University while completing a credit bearing course which can be applied to their degree. After the challenges this year it might also be an opportunity to assist those who might be nervous about gaining entry into university or are looking for a university experience before making the commitment to study.

UniBound Summer

UniBound Summer – Pacific is a five-week academic enrichment programme to prepare Pacific school leavers for university studies. It’s designed to prepare students to achieve at the University of Auckland, and to help students transition into University life.

Summer Start

Experience our campus, meet your new Uni fam and prepare for Semester One with Summer Start.

Running from 5 January – 16 February 2022, Summer Start is a six-week programme for eligible school leavers that will help students to make the transition to university with confidence ahead of Semester One 2022.

Identity Documentation

In light of the continued Covid-19 restrictions, Applications and Admissions will be accepting uploaded electronic copies of identity documents with a statutory declaration through the Statutory Declaration form for Identity Documents. Further information has also been updated on the COVID-19 Update for Applicants website. Please note that we will be prioritising those with a firm offer of place for a 2022 start term to allow students to enrol from the 1 November 2021along with those applying to Summer Start, Tōia ki Waipapa and UniBound Summer. This will include School Leavers with firm offers and Fast Track offers.

 Engineering – Revision Sessions for NCEA Level 3 Calculus and Physics Externals

Due to the limited number of spaces available, we are sorry to advise that the upcoming revision sessions for NCEA Level 3 Calculus and Physics externals for all students who identify as female are now almost full. If students would like to go on a waiting list for these sessions, please click the registration link. The Engineering team are looking at options to record these sessions to be able to post these for students to view following the event and we will be in touch should this be possible.

Our Women in Engineering team continue to offer one-on-one virtual sessions through our website.
